I agree, a totally stupid design.
Luckily the bigger LX series doesnt suffer from this to the same extent.

I'm eventiually going to make up a simple wooden wedge for the etx.

Seanie - my ETX70 is actually currently piggybacked on the C8! All mounted on the you-know-what....

I had a go a making a wooden wedge for the ETX70 before cannabalising the whole thing. It was actually not that hard. Its still kicking around if you want it but I know it needs just a little (half an hour) more work.

By the way - if anyone wants the ETX70 minus the OTA (for spares or exotic projects etc), let me know.

Cheers

Dave McD,
If your wooden contraption did work, then I'll buy it off you!

Seanie - you can have it. Spare screws included to attach the wedge to the ETX tripod. I'll show you the extra work you need to do which as I said is minimal - you'll probably just need a needle file and 30 minutes.

Cheers

Thanks Dave,
keep it for me. I'll be in touch and get up to Celbridge sometime (soon).
