Guys I have to say I'm thrilled with this; Knocked my socks off when I saw it on the back of the camera! Considering this is a single 2 minute exposure!



For those of you who dont mind a 120K download heres a higher res version.

Details:

Location: Raheny Dublin.
Celestron 9.25" SGT @ F6.3
Camera: Canon 300D DSLR Unmodified
Filter: Parks Optical broadband LPR filter.
Exposure: Single 2 minute exposure @ ISO 1600
Guiding: Unguided
Processing: Slight unsharp masking in paint shop pro 7 and some contrast adjustment to bring out the faint wispy nebulosity.

Unguided for 2 minutes? - Didn't think you could go much higher than about 30 seconds without star trails!

Dave - super image. The new DSLR's really are packing a hell of a punch.

Do you find the Parks LPR requires you to extend your exposures by much?

Also, do you have some sort of PE installed on the mount? There's absolutely no trailing whatsoever in the image - the mark of a great mount (in the hands of an expert tuning wizard :D ) for a two minute single exposure!
