For downloading they use a mirror and no matter which one I use I get this error?

Could not read file.

Any ideas?

also when I go back and find the file listed and load it it won't extract/run?

I am just updating my own version of GIMP at the moment.
You can get the GTK installer and the GIMP installer through HEANet in Dublin.


This should get you the GTK toolkit:
heanet.dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/gi...0-20041001-setup.zip

and this should get you GIMP itself.
heanet.dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/gi...2.0.5-i586-setup.zip

and of course unzip and run them, running the GTK toolkit installer first.

Its not the most intutive program. If you are used to photoshop then you have some chance of working it out, if not you will probably need the book or at least the tutorials at www.gimp.org/tutorials/ u

The oficial documentation is at docs.gimp.org/en/ It tells you what everything does rather than how to do things
