Canon EOS300D download list...

I'll stick to EOS300D as the camera is only a Rebel in North America and a Kiss(?) in Japan. Marketing madness.

Okay, for those who can't fathom out how to navigate through Canon's software update site, here is the list of downloads you'll need to make the most of your camera.

I recommend:

Digital Photo Professional - fast viewer with some editing
EOS Viewer - needed for the above
TWAIN and WIA drivers - useful if you want to use remote imaging software

That filter removal one is not for the fainhearted!. Umpf.. Couldnt see me do that.

I think you would have to re-set the WB to a new value. I dont know if you would have to do that every time you switch settings on the camera or that
it would remember.
But I like the fac that I can use this camera for dual purposes.

Yes, I agree completely. For me it's important that I can use it during the day also.

You are able to get "red" images from the camera with the filter on, I dont think the risk is worth it.
