Of course, the correct terms are the Magellenic Cloud and the Dwarf Magellenic Cloud....

Good grief - just how politically uncorrect can you get? I certainly hope there are no Omm Pa Pa men on the list... they'd be hopping mad to hear the 'D' word being used! It's just a good thing that the Milky Way galaxy is pulling the SMC towards itself and not pushing it away. Next thing we'd be hearing about intergalactic dwarf throwing contests!

Yeah, and another thing...Surely that should be changed to 'smaller'.
As in, something can always be smaller than something else by comparison...

It's called "Large" because the one next to it is "Small"

I'm a visitor from another site; just stumbled across Irish Astronomy. This will be my first post here. I've posted perhaps 6,670 times there, but much of the stuff is stupid commets, as they are with everyone everywhere. I've just inventoried threads that I started there at 175 in Astronomy, and eighteen in science.

Rather than repeat text in a longish thread, I'll just post the link to it. The subject of this thread is amazing. There are 300,000 separate images stitched together into this one titanic 59 megafright 13,250 pixel square image. Most people would have to scroll their screens sideways or up and down a dozen times to see the whole thing.

I heard from reliable sources that Michael was trying out DIY laser eye surgery.
Now, when did he borrow my green pointer.......
