Hello, Darren.

Firstly I will state that a lot of those orange coloured stars in Bootes are mostly likely to be K class stars. They can go from K0 to K9 in temperature.

From what I can work out there are only 3 carbon stars in Bootes. And I have just worked on their designations.

1. TT Bootis. This carbon is very near Beta Bootis (Nekkar). It varies from 12.8 to 19.8 in magnitude. Over on www.aavso.org it's about 13.8 and may be brightening.

2. 3UC233-111993 is near W Bootis. It varies from 12.6 to 13.1 in magnitude. www.aavso.org give it an outrageously long designation:
NSVS J144248.40+261030.9 I don't appear to be able to discover an easier designation. That 1st one is from Guide 9.1 DVD.

3. TYC 3486-120-1 is almost into Hercules. But it is much easy to find than the first two. Its magnitude is 11.7.

I can give Right Ascensions and Declinations if anyone needs them.

Clear skies (when?) Lol

Aubrey.

Hi Aubrey,

I hope you're keeping keeping well.

Very many thanks for providing those identifiers in Bootes. Sadly by the time I'm ready to observe the night sky from my back garden Bootes is not visible from my position. And speaking of observing I'm off out for a quick look through the eyepiece - pity about the wind though!

Clear skies,

Darren.

And it's the same tonight Tuesday.
Cloud, cloud and more cloud.

So I can just continue working on the carbon stars on an Excel Spreadsheet.
I have finally reached Orion.

Best regards from Aubrey.
