Hi, For me its sky and telescope, followed by Astronomy Now.
I like sky&night mag but its a little expensive and seems to me to be aimed more at beginners.

I find Practical Astronomer to be by far the best.
Not available in the shops though.

You can buy one issue at a time if you just want to see what it is like. I bought the first few and then subscribed to it. My S&T will expire next January but I don't plan to renew it as this magazine is alot better IMHO.

Michael,
I checked the Practical Astronomer site and it certainly looks good. If subscribing do Irish purchasers identify themselves as U.K. or Europe?

I subscribe to Sky at Night, it was suggested to me a few years back as a beginners mag and whilst I like to think I've moved on a bit since then, I still enjoy it, the cover disc as mentioned before, is excellent, and I love checking the images to see if I know any of the people who took them.

There is also Sky & Telescope on line where I've lost a few hours perusing it on a cloudy night.
