I agree there should be amazing detail in M32 with a 12inch scope!! On Martins 8inch i remember us seeing dark dust lanes and it taking up the whole FOV as it's such a massive object. You should also be able to see M31 and M110. All 3 should be in the same FOV as i got with my 4 1/2 inch. Keep the mag low to get a better prospective

I've only ever seen a faint dust lane in front of it, even in dark skies. Apart from that it still looks like a fuzzy blob, granted a bigger fuzzy blob in bigger scopes. Sure its big, and is even bright with averted vision, but there isnt that much structure to see in it I dont find.
There are many other galaxies that are much more impressive imho.
