Bill Napier, ex Armagh observatory, has written several excellent thriller books with an astronomical theme, e.g. "Revelation" and "Nemesis".

And out of all that list only one book and one poem that's worth reading! What's the list for? Might be easier to make suggestions.

Your one actually Dave - Foucault's Pendulum. Can beat a bit of Eco.

Ah yes, superb book.

He wrote another called 'The Island of the Day Before' which was excellent and astronomical. It was about a bloke marooned on a ship on the Meridian. THe ship was full of clocks to try and solve the longitude 'problem'. Fictional of course but Eco seems to be very studious and even in his fictional work, refers to reference books of yester-century. I'd add this book to the list too. A great read as well by the way.

Actually, Foucaults Pendulum was partly about the Holy Grail and the Templars etc. A La Da Vinci Code.......
