Tony --

Orion Optics make an 8" in f/4.5, f/6 and f/8. The tube lengths should be as follows:

f/4.5 860mm
f/6 1130mm
f/8 1540mm

Note that those are tube lengths, not focal lengths. But they'll allow you to measure the tube of yours and figure out which it is. The focal lengths are then as follows:

f/4.5 900mm
f/6 1200mm
f/8 1600mm

I find this a good website for checking what type of filters suits you and what your looking for.

I ordered a set of 4 filters from these people in Germany and I'm still waiting for them but when i get them i'll be sure to post to you telling you about them.

Hi,
Filters can be good for reducing glare on larger aperture telescopes when viewing the planets but rarely do I find that I can see more detail using them.
