Even if you could do that, would you not be limited to viewing the Zenith?

Yeah i have been wondering about that myself.

I'm thinking about one of these:

Little Woods link

Wonder how easy the roof would be to adapt so it flips open on either side.

I have a 10x12 version of that, well a very similar in style that came from Argos last year. A very nice and handy shed, it blends into the background well.

It's not something I would recommend. I have the same shed (I think) you're talking about Dave, and it is always a constant dew problem inside. It is not airtight by any means at all at all. From experience of this metal shed, DO NOT leave your scopes in it. They will get damp.

I know this topic is a few months old, but I have a related question if someone can help. I store my SCT in a cool cupboard under the stairs.

My question is, what is best practice when the scope is brought in from a viewing session in regards to dealing with the moisture that builds up on the scope and mirror once it comes into the warmer house atmosphere (I use a dew shield & hair dryer during the session).

Thanks

If you have an open tube newtonian or similar, just cover both ends of the tube with elasticated shower caps and allow the condensation to evaporate in its own good time - the important thing is to prevent dust or dirt landing on the wet optical surfaces, and NEVER! be tempted to wipe or dab them dry. The same goes for SCTs - just put the aperture lid back on. If it is absolutely wringing wet then get out the hair dryer and give it a blast. Dew won't generally hurt the optics unless there is a lot of pollution (sulphur) in the air.
