How far are you guys prepared to travel to find a good spot?  I am not suggesting halfway across the country here, but an idea of distance will help try to pinpoint a location.

Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better programs, and the universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the universe is winning.

Hi Paul,

I'd be willing to travel up to 90mins.

Michael.

90 mins would be fine by me.

That would get us quite a far way from the lights.

Are you still thinking of somewhere in the Wicklow National Park?

I have my scope set-up in the back garden for some observing. So, I'm going to head-out to try observe a few galaxies around Ursa Major - M81 and M82, and M51, but I'll check in again later this evening lads.

Clear skies,

Darren.

I was looking at Google maps and I found a place called Kilmichael Point on the Wicklow/Wexford border.  It has a good view to the east and south, the land to the west looks flat.  It is by the sea and there is an old coast guard station, I don't know if it is occupied.  It looks like there is an area where scopes can be set up.  I hope to pop down this weekend or next to check it out.  Have a look and tell me what you think.

I had a look on Google Street view.  There were cars parked by the house.

It could be a holiday let I suppose.
