British Meteorite was created by Fermidox
It's looking likely that last night's fireball may have deposited one or more meteorites in an area north of Cheltenham. This would be quite an historic event as the last fall in the UK was nearly 30 years ago at Glatton. Our last fall was in 1999 at Leighlinbridge.
Ironically, the advent of the information age seems to have drawn a veil of secrecy over the subject, rather than opening it up. More people are now aware of the value of these objects, and the professional hunters are anxious to get their hands on them before the competitors arrive. We haven't seen too many updates today from the 'official' channels as to how the search is unfolding, and of course the lockdown adds a quirky element to this latest hunt. We await developments with interest.

Cheltenham may become famous for something other than the horses before long....

Some reports suggesting that the meteor may have vaporised almost completely with very little making it to the ground intact. No public confirmation of anything found yet, as far as I can tell.

Part of it fell on a driveway, the family donated it to Science for study. They could have paid off the mortgage if they had sold it in the private market.
