What a lovely orange / red Sun you have given us here, Finbarr.
Your image is first class!

Regarding my little party of my wife Valerie, a cousin and a neighbour, all 4 of us observed the Partial Solar Eclipse quite a lot from 10.58 local time.
We had eclipse glasses, Baader Astro Solar filters on the 10X50 binoculars, and my A2 pad placed on the telescope chair, This meant we eventually saw the Moon taking out a good "bite" out of the Sun lots of times.
The Moon was covering 10% of the Sun at maximum.
Although we didn't that particular part, we were all overjoyed to observe the eclipse at many times despite the low and high clouds.
My ancient 28mm RKE eyepiece picked out the 2 large sunspots with image projection.
The Sun and the Moon were very large with the refractor.
There was even a smaller sunspot beside one of the larger ones.
You can see each sunspot on Finbarr's spectacular video from Chelmsford.

It's my 8th Partial Solar Eclipse since the 1970s and I'm thrilled to bits that I saw any of it at all!

Very best regards from Aubrey.

P S I wonder when the next solar eclipse is.
Could it be April 2024?
Maybe there is another one before then.

Congratulations, Neill!

Two more things I should say:
The Partial Solar Eclipse is my 50th observing session of 2022.

There are no partial solar eclipses until April 2024.
My wife and I are planning to observe Totality in Mexico.

Best regards from Aubrey.

The eclipse was mostly clouded out in Dundrum (Dublin).  I managed to get a few shots after maximum. Taken with my smartphone held to the eyepiece with black polymer on the objective.

Hi everyone,

I've really enjoyed reading your reports on the partial solar eclipse today, and the images are fantastic to see.

Some of my students and I used a pair of binoculars to project the event onto a blank page this morning. It worked particularly well once we got it the items aligned.

We also watched the live stream earlier in the morning, which was great, so thanks for sharing the link.

Clear skies,

Darren.
