Partial Solar Eclipse - 4th Jan 2011 was created by Frank Ryan
a nice start to the year,
there will be a partial solar eclipse visible
from Ireland on the morning of the 4th.
I'll miss it coz I'll be at work
(though I may just take a hike up onto the roof
for a wee peek!) :-)

This Partial Solar Eclipse is definitely visible from Ireland. Last Thursday I purchased the January edition of The Sky at Night magazine, and there are plenty of details about the eclipse in it. Sunrise occurs at 8.40am from Dublin and the Moon covers over 50% of the Sun.

Yours, Aubrey.

Could be a nice one if the weather co-operates, and thats a big IF..
The suns disk gets above the horison at 8.50am, where it will be about 1/3rd covered by the moon.
The eclipse ends at 9.22am where the sun is only 3.2 degrees above the horison, thats alot lower then were we lost the moon in horison clouds during the lunar eclipse on Tuesday.
