Ack Jonathan, that's just personal taste, not a put down.
There are many people who do appreciate them and this is what this section is for, after all, so there's no reason (other than because of nebulophobes like Seanie and me) not to do so.
I tend to shy away from atmospherics as I'm only interested in the more unusual examples.
Talking of which, I was diving off Rathlin Island yesterday, and when the sun came out I was transfixed with three independent layers of clouds zooming along at very differing speeds, from wisps of stratus rocketing past to cumulus moving relatively fast, whilst alto-cumulus moved sedately way up above everything.

I'm with Seany on this.
They're occasionally nice to look at, but there are only so many rainbows etc. I can look at without yawning.

Jupiter's red spot is an "Atmospheric Phenomenon".

The Earth is the prettiest planet in the Solar System.

Who would want to spend their lives on the barren Red Dirt of Mars.
