That's a very impressive shot Declan ... really wish I'd taken the time to go out and check for NLCs, that was one hell of a display!

Excellent pictures Declan.
I saw the display myself from down at the folks place in Dromineer, N. Tipp. They were my first display seen in quite some time and it was nice sit by the lake and watch them for 15 minutes before heading home.

Im just wondering if there is a website that tells you when/if an NLC display is in action?

I don't think there is John, as these kinds of clouds are pretty much a localised event covering only a couple hundred miles. They probably exist all the time, it is down to local conditions that make them visible. For example, you have seen here that for some of the displays, observers in Northern Ireland would have seen a much better display at the same time then those in southwest Ireland.
Some of us here text each other when a display is seen, more so for those that have not seen them before and are unsure about what to look for, and when, after dusk.
