Noctilucent clouds visible Now ! was created by galwayskywatchers

For anyone who has never seen Noctilucent Clouds, there is a display in Progress, from my view in Galway, they are Type 2 Noc. Clouds, which are in Bands, just seen them several minutes ago, bright and under Capella. Take a look

Thanks for the heads-up Ronan, I just popped out for a quick look and there they were, a couple of degrees below Capella. Weird looking clouds that seemed to be glowing. An interesting sight. Thanks again.

Great pictures there, pity i could only view up till 1230 as working at 0730, was it much better later? Hopefully more tonight.

We really shoud get a few mobile numbers around to inform each other when things like these are happening, i have 250 free per month .

seems to be a very slight sign of white clouds near Capella again now (23:50 IST). Might be worth looking out in half an hour or so if you are awake...

Great pics lads,
I'm amazed at how luminous they look.
But I also missed them. until next time,
I agree with you Ronan on the contacts idea.

There were plenty of "clouds" in the sky here today, might put up a pic of one of those someday

Did anyone manage to image the continued Noctilucent display on Thursday night?

Why not... but will this be down to PM's? Is it tricky to start posting mobile numbers on this site publicly?

hi Ronan,

got a few snaps of the Thursday display with the digital camera but they were not bright enough to be well recorded so I haven't posted any picture up -- will bring the camera next weekend when we meet up. Mind you, I'm still trying to master the camera so I may have not set the right exposure details.

driving back from Armagh last night I saw a lovely bundle of anti-solar crepuscular rays tapering towards the south-EASTern horizon -- these are where the rays you see from the setting sun may be splayed right across the sky and converge on the anti-solar point (i.e. opposite point in the sky to the sun). A certain amount of haziness in the atmosphere enhances their visibility. The rays are parallel to each other but perspective makes them appear to come together again. It was hard keep a prolonged watch on them doing 70mph on the M1 :)
