Looks like they plan an attempt to destroy it on Thursday according to the CNN website. They aim to launch from an Aegis cruiser when the satellite is approx. 150 miles up & estimate the cost of the attempt at between $50-$60 million!!! I love the US Government quote which said" we can't do anything to make the situation worse". Now where have we heard that one before..........

The Russians believe that there is nothing on board the satellite, apart from the normal spy imaging gear. The only reason it is being shot down is so the US can test out new anti-satellite weaponary, and this is the perfect opportunity for a test, to destroy a potentially "dangerous" crash in the ocean

It cant be a very good "spy" satellite if the Russians already know what is on it.
