Hi all
Now that those of us in Dublin are in lockdown for the foreseeable future, I am wondering if there are any locations within the county suitable for observing. Thinking on the south side of the city, perhaps there are places around Kilternan and Glencullen.
Anyone know of any such place?
Paul

The IAS used to meet at the grave yard in Glencullen. There is a car park there.
There is also Johnnie Foxes or the blue lamp. Both have car parks which should be empty.
There is a car park here.

Hi Paul,
Great idea about trying to locate a Dublin site to observe from.
In addition to Michael's suggestions, somewhere along Ballyman Road (close to Kilternan) might be an idea. I'm often out walking here:
( www.dublinmountains.ie/recreation_sites/carrickgollogan/ ) It will provide good Southern skies, but one issue would be the light pollution from Enniskerry.
I'll have a good think about other places too.
Clear skies,
Darren.

It will make no difference where we go, Darren, there will always be light pollution, especially from Dublin.
I was thinking of the car park by the graveyard, Michael, it was there I first met you guys many years ago. Aubrey had the hulking 8" scope and mount that looked like it was designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel.
