Is Gliese 581g trying to 'communicate' with us?

If it was real, then it should be easily repeatable.

Only if someone is continually sending pulses. Remember that here we have sent out laser pulses but only as a single event. What is the odds of some other planet picking up on that?

Should also say that I was thinking of red giants on previous post but

Gliese 581g orbits 0.16 AU away (in 37 days)

sorry Seanie centrifugal force has thrown all the wee green b***gers off the planet so no intelligent life left

37 days!!, the planet is probabily gav locked, or maybe there is some sort of resonance, like Mercury,
A year on that planet would be interesting, if you could hang on that is :silly:

It is gravitationally locked, that's what makes it even more interesting - the planet keeps the same face constantly - each day and night is infinite (look for the original article I posted here over 2 weeks ago). It is believed that along the terminator the temperature difference on the planet is no lower than around -31 degrees Celsius. It allows for steady 'seasons' on the surface.
