Will the Streelights Be Dimmed?

Hi all

With the ongoing energy crisis, cities across Europe are bringing in laws to save energy, one of those measures taken in Germany, Italy, and Austria is to dim the streetlights.

There is always the perceived fear for public safety with reduced street lighting, the article makes some interesting comments about this.
LED lights are now becoming the norm and touted as a great energy saving measure, this article reveals some interesting data.

Can you see our government and councils following suit?  My honest opinion is they won't as the public safety cries will drown out all else.

Of course we must keep them on. They regularly prevent all the joy riding, drug dealing , murders and other crimes that happen at night . The false sense of security will over ride everything else. If they won't turn off the lights lighting up government buildings then there is no chance of going for this.

I'd love experience dark dkies from my back garden, but I can't see that happening.

 

I can't see it happening unless there is a severe shortage of energy, it is such a waste as it is.
