Wettest July in 50 years was created by Frank Ryan
This report makes for sober reading
(sombre may be a better word choice, you may not want to stay sober after reading it)

I think I'll start to keep a 'Clear Night Calendar'
just to keep records.
At the moment it's hard not to believe that our weather in this part of the world
had not permanently changed.
We seem to experience incessant low pressure systems tracking in from the Atlantic
throughout the year.
One has to wonder has the Gulf Stream been effected.
: blink:
It does not bode well for astronomy.
In fact, it's a wonder we get anything done!

It is grim. Makes one feel like selling the scopes and taking up some other hobby less dependant on the weather. I never remember anything like it. If its like last year the next clear spell will be around December.

Ya your right.
I remember no clear nights right through the summer
until December last year.
Looks like the light pollution issues pale in comparison
to the cloud / global warming issues :silly:

Now I am depressed, could always invest in some radio astronomy gear to cheer ourselves up:)

Clear skies (when)?

A wet July and a terrible August!, hopefully September will do its usual indian summer.
I put all this crap weather down to the very low solar minimum, this way when the sun"recovers" we'll get good summers again, here's me hoping!

I hope you're right Dave, it's depressing sitting here looking out at the rain again, this is now the third poor summer in a row, I've probaly got out on 2/3 nights max this summer.

Lets hope September picks up..

Keith..
