If anyone fancies camping in Co. Waterford Friday night, DAS is holding a Perseids overnighter near Clonea beach, outside Dungarvan in Co. Waterford. Cloud cover looks clear from 10pm on so fingers crossed for a clear night.
If anyone would like to come along, please pm me for directions.
Clear skies & happy meteor hunting,
Bernie

MAC had a StarBQ last weekend and we're having another one this weekend, it's in the Announcements/Club News forum.
Personally, I am working till around 2am tomorrow night/Friday morning, so I might get some observing in then on the way home.

Best of luck with the StarBQ Bernie.
I'll be in Tullamore that night at the MAC one, weather permitting.
Fingers crossed!

We had about 20 minutes of clear skies at our dark sky observing site outside Spiddal with a dark northern sky. Eight Perseids and two or three sporadics shortly before midnight. 2 up to 0 mag, 2 with dust/smoke trails.
Quite a good turnout of interested people who were really impressed.
I think the media hype helped.

Nothing around Tullamore. Evening was cloudy on my way to the gig before 11pm, pretty much completely clouded out save a few glimpses of Jupiter through murky breaks after 2am on the way home. No fun.
