Those are great, very "other world" feel about them.

Thanks,
As for astrophotography i don't know.I saw a few pictures taken at night and they looked brilliant! But one would have to modify his camera by removing IR filter which is integrated, thus making the camera useful only for IR photography.Plus if you ask me they were heavily "photoshoped".
those two pictures where taken @ f/6 30s and 40s exposures at bright daylight...So i don't think i would be able to do any IR photography with my present set up at night.

ok, but if you had a camera that could do IR, is it a way of getting around light pollution, or is IR light pollution just as bad?, its worth exploring.

Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better programs, and the universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the universe is winning.

I have seen cameras for sale on other astronomy forums that have been modified for IR photography, the camera picks up objects such as the Veil and Califonia Nebulae, objects that are normally blocked by the cameras IR filter, with ease.
I guess it might be worth picking up an old 300D or 350D and paying to have it modified if you fancy having a go.
