Wonderful news Aubrey - Thank God!

Hello everyone.
I have terribly sad news.
A well known contributor on this IFAS website has died.
John O'Neill has passed away.
John often attended Cosmos and many other events.
His contributions on the AAVSO are well known too.
John is survived by his wife Sara.
I cannot believe that John is gone.
It truly is devastating news to me personally.
John and Sara encouraged me to become a member of AAVSO some years ago.
My wife Valerie knew both John and Sara very well.
We will miss John for sure.
There is an IFAS meeting tonight in Clonskeagh.
John was a member for so many years, and gave lectures on variable stars.

Literally last night I read, for the first time, this post he wrote on the BAA Forum, mentioning the first astronomy talk he attended...

Oh my goodness, that's a great pity.
John was a very dedicated observer for several decades, with a particular interest in variable stars.
He is a tremendous loss to the Irish astronomy community.
My condolences to Sara at this difficult time.
