Until we discover micobial life in water ice samples from Mars I think it would be wise to hold off on any more "disclosures" - Unless of course we don't discover any life - which I think is unlikely. Where there is water there will be life - unless Mars's lack of electromagnetic shielding has sterilised the whole planet......Wait and see.............

Mark.
Anybody who says that Earthshine is reflected Sunshine is talking Moonshine.

The real purpose of a mission to Mars should be about pure science.
To find out the "how", the "what", the "where", the "when" and the "why" of
this mysterious world.
The Phoenix program is an admirable example of this long term program, which will last for centuries.
Sensationalising an already well known fact for the newspapers does NASA no good at all.

As I said Seanie, take out your 3 inch refractor, look at the north polar cap of Mars and you are looking at water ice.but not water ice like this

Its been well known for about 30 years theres water ice there. But most of the ice is actually carbon dioxide ice.And it really annoys me that most of the missions sent to mars are all about finding life rather than doing much other science about the formation and history of mars.I dont beleive there is life on mars i mean life could live off any thing who says it hs to be water and oxegyn? In my opinion it as just as likely that there is life in say venus than there is on mars.

We shall not cease from exploration
And the end of all our exploring
Will be to arrive where we started
And know the place for the first time. . . .

It could be an element that, as it got colder, dissipated or reacted. a single drop in degree could ake all the difference and judgin by the shadows! Theres so many possibilites!
