Hi Fintan, it's a standard PST. Would love a Solarmax but that is one large jump in price to get a 60mm or above. Would prefer a SolarScope filter even more

Anyway, the proms have disappeaed but the sunspot is still around. It's number is 953. Today's shot.

Looks like I'm at the limit of resolution for the PST. @5x the image is way too soft, so I used the 2.5x powermate for this one.

Cheers,

Trev

Hi Trev....

Thanks to your tip off.... and actually having a day off today I set up my 2 scopes to try and capture the Sunspot....using My Baader AstroSolar Homemade filters (no PST yet!!)

These are the results...

This is using a 3x barlow, probably a bit soft, (will process the ones with the 2x barlow when I get a chance..) on the 6inch Meade Reflector, and colour correcting the image in Photoshop.

and

This was using my Soligor 3.7 inch refractor and a Canon 350D to get the full disk..... again corrected in Photoshop..

Not quite Solar Scope stuff, but it will have to do me for the moment..... I was just glad that there was some activity back on Sol again...

Cheers for the heads up Trev....

Stephen, those are fabulous images, lots and lots of detail.

Absolutely!!!! In fact I'll be bringing a 70mm setup along if it works out (and is safe).

BTW you gotta see these shots from a couple of guys on CN.
