do dew strips just literally fit around the curcumference of the scope on the corrector plate end? i have never saw any so want to know how they are fitted etc.

That's it basically. The safer option, but only good up to about 12 inch diameter scopes (SCT's and refractors) I think. They work from the edge-inwards you see.

if i bought a dew strip heater thats for a 14 inch scope, could i wrap it around my scope a few times, or do i have to buy one fitted to the scope? this would also save money whenever i upgrade.

Hi

They litterly just fit around the edge of the corrector plate with a bit of velcro to hold them on. The amount of heat they give off is tiny and I was surprised at the difference they made to dew forming on the corrector.

You literarly just fit them and forget them!! As for buying a larger size I suppose you could but the larger ones cost more and would draw more amps. That means more bateries to lug out etc Power is everything when you have a GOTO :)

Ohh NO!!!! Don't do that. A 14inch tape will put way too much heat into the optics. Also a 14 inch tape draws over 4 amps. Your battery won't last very long at that rate! Just get the correct one for your scope.
