Come on guys give people a break while comments were asked for I think you have been harsh in your criticism.

Apologies if my suggestions came across as harsh criticism. I downloaded it, it looks good, but is of limited use to me (web pages are an area that I think this software would be useful in for example, particularly if extended to other objects, as I havent found any software able to handle that), so I made suggestions. The authors don't want to take those on board at this stage and thats fine.

Best of luck with the tool.

Cheers,
~Al

Albert W, you have nothing to apologise for! Voyager, apology accepted.

Yes, it would be great to have this developed so that it can be used on line, but Bob owns the copyright and he's said he doesn't want it to go open source yet, so the subject is closed.

Shall we all just draw a line under this and start again?

I stuck it on a page to see it in action and it looks good....

Even a novice at web-page stuff like me can manage it. :D

If the man who does the coding has put his foot down then there is not point in us ranting on about open source etc for now drawing a line under it for now is the only positive way forward!

However, if in the future your brother does decide to go thte GPL route do please come back here and tell us so we can help out and get this software ported to either a web interface or Java so that everyone can use it.

Whilst the vast majority of users don't seem to having any problems, we've had a few people e-mail us saying that when they try and run NightCal they are getting the message " FATAL ERROR - Invalid data in LoadVSOPData ". We think we know what's happening, but still don't fully understand why. The more information we have as to why these few people are getting this error message, the quicker we can come up with a fix. If this happens to you, please could you e-mail us straight away at nightcal@hotmail.co.uk.

The new version of NightCal (version 0.6.2) is now available for download at our website at www.nightcal.co.uk . The new version fixes the Fatal Error bug experienced by users in some non-English speaking countries.
