Another feature which the russian hack gives is focus lock. This is primarily for regular photography. It allows you to focus on something, hold down the shutter release half way and then move the camera to another target without it refocussing automatically. If had occasions where I could have definitely used this. Particularly on moving targets.

I've been thinking about giving this a go for a while. I think I'll give it a go and let you guys know how it goes.

Well I just installed this hack with no problems at all. It all seems to do what it says 'on the tin'. The process just takes a couple of minutes and is painless. One thing about warranties though. Even if you have the original firmware on disk. If your camera wont start, you cant reinstall the original firmware to send it back. Just something to consider.

Yea, I was thinking that to!
Since I have no warrently at this stage, I'd be charged for it :cry:

The mirror lock is needed if you want to use it on the ETX70, the mount is very light, so even the shutter will affect that.
The lx200 can work very hapily without the mirror lock. :)

Still, if I can get extra features for free, I'll take them.
