G'day from Australia. was created by southerncross
A big G'day from Australia, my name is Ed and I came across irishastronomy and I dropped in to say hello.
I'm interested in telescope making and was wondering if anyone could put me on to some telescope making sites in Ireland.
We have an Astronomy forum here in Australia also and it has a ATM and DIY Projects section for telescope making I am surprised you haven't got something like this.
You have a nice forum and I have a lot of reading ahead of me.
Clear Skies.

Hi Ed,
Welcome to the site.
There are several people here who I know have made their own telescopes, but it hasn't come up enough to merit starting a special section for it. Perhaps with your input the interest will pick up again!
Cheers,
~Albert

Welcome Ed,
We're all green with jealousy given the skies you guys have down there compared to us over here, and lets not talk about the weather
I've made a number of mods to my scope and built a number of usefull devices for the scope over the years, to name a few...
www.irishastronomy.org/boards/viewtopic.php?t=4457
www.irishastronomy.org/boards/viewtopic....ghlight=joystickstar
I never got into actually building a scope from scratch.
The club built a 13" dob back in the 80s, which is still in use and is working fine to this day.
Phil Lardner builds top quality 20+ inch dobs and is on these boards, I've seen these close up and they are an excellent wooden build.
There is a fair amount on this site, I hope you find it usefull, any Qs/comments, just make a post..

Thanks for the warm welcome guys.
Some very nice mods you made to your scope Dave.
This is a pic of my telescope I made it's a 18" f4.5, the picture was taken at the last star party I went to.
