The moon next to Jupiter last night was super.
Is it my imagination or is Jupiter brighter this year then it has been in previous years ?

I presume its because it manages to rise out of the atmospheric dust this year at 22ยบ. The moon was yellow low down in the PM the other night and a bright crisp white in the early AM at eclipse time when it had risen out of the muck.

:P Sunday evening, between 20h45 UT and 21h20 UT certainly two very close couples are nicely visible at each side of jupiter.

Io and Ganymede shall a long time move close to each other, it is at 20h14 UT both are the closest to us visible (only seperated by 1 arcmin.).
Europa and Callisto do it at 21h00 UT (6 arcminutes between it)

just saw it, a bit before 21 UT. Impression of different colors in the moons. Also obvious how quick the moons leave each other, and come close to each other.

Metcheck has me down for 14mm of rain tonight. Weather-forecast.com, normally considerably more optimistic, says "heavy rain".

Sigh.
