IFAS on Facebook? was created by Frank Ryan
I know the IFAS Committee do a lot
to keep this site up and running and it
is appreciated.
(please don't shoot me for suggesting...)
How about an IFAS prescence on Facebook?
(linked to Twitter)
Easy set up and best of all... Free!
Everyone and his dog on the planet
seem to use it.
Might be good way to spread the good
word of IFAS to the masses?....

Not a bad idea. It's won't have to be updated all that much either. Darragh, what email have we got registered to use for Facebook?

It's a great idea for reaching out to people, and particularly younger people, who may have a passing interest in astronomy but wouldn't go as far, initially, as joining the IFAS forum or any of the societies. There is a small IAA group on Facebook which I started just to see if it attracted any interest and there are a few members now which is a start though I haven't marketed it at all yet.

I've been posting some of my more accessible sketches (the planets, mainly) on my Facebook page and I've been somewhat surprised by the positive responses from some of my non-astro friends.
I might even try a few more esoteric "faint fuzzies" next....
