Here's another weather site well worth linking to:
www.wunderground.com/global/Region/EU/2xTemperature.html

Dave, I thought we were going with astronomy not astronomical.

How about Laika instead of the sheep

The sheep stays or the dog gets it
It's a lovely sheep, I'm off to buy new wellies and join KAS

Astronomers do it with the lights off.

Thanks for the links guys. I think dave should retain control of the site and we pass the material onto him. for example it's easy for me to continue working on the links page and just pass the bare html onto dave when it needs updating and as for the rest if dave has no problem either submit it as a html file or a word docu that can be converted by either dave or myself for dave to upload. personally i think it makes more sense to have one or two at the most working on integrating material. If people are happy i'll help out. you can pm or mail me the ftp settings dave. that way i can update the lnks directly.

let me know what you think. I've a couple of ideas for articles on archeoastronomy to broaden the content of the site. and i know i'm rambling

P.S. Am working on the mission statement. Also will we have a membership card as well. I'll throw a couple of samples together and can get them laminated fairley easily for the next meeting.

Bottom line- I'd prefer to have people contributing to the site rather than trying to please the folks over at W3C. The site will work fine for 99% of users.

Um... by pleasing the folks at W3C you'll end up with something that works for more users that you'll get by ignoring the standards. All the validation really consists of is making sure that you close tags, and ensuring that you are being sensible with the css.

Or another way... having a non standard compliant site wont get any more or less contributors than a compliant one :-)

So if anyone would like any content on the SDAS site please send it on :-)

Cheers,
~Al

p.s. Do all clubs start off with this level of "organisation" ? ;-)

Cool. Now I can bring back the Burning Observatories logo for SDAS since it will no longer be the silliest club logo/image :-)

I actually liked that logo of yours Al!
One of the problems with astronomy is that it's seen as a very dry and serious subject to the average Joe Soap. Anything that can be done to make it more accessible and casual can only be welcomed.
