Go with the competition, but as Al said, what about rules?

Should we define what is being sought e.g. something tied to old (Celtic) Ireland, or not? Something national, or international, define a pallete of colours (if needed) .g. green, white, red, & black?

Hi Lads

As Seanie said we need to define what is being sought. Here are some thoughts on what I think we should be looking for...
A logo for IFAS...which is

1 Irish
2 Professional
3 Usable on websites, letterheads, posters, banners, brochures etc
4 representing a community

It should aim to convey that IFAS is The organisation for astronomy in Ireland. It should be strong and proud, instantly recognisable, It should be simple..Think of all the brands you know...most of them and especially the successful one have simple strong logos. It should be in colours which tie into a set of corporate colours and fonts which should be defined at this stage. Should make some reference to astronomy. I do not think it would be a good idea to limit designers to colours ideas etc..after all that is their job. I also think we need to talk to bart in relation to any technical restraints on Logo, as Bart will have to use it immediately

Perhaps the IFAS Committee could put together a document on what is required and post it here. Set a deadline for submissions, pick one or two and develop them further if needed until we have a finalised logo.

Cheers
Trevor

I'd rather Dave Power and Bart to give me requirements.

Can you give me the spec of what you want to ask for in the competition?
